With Emily being my first, I feel like I am blindly groping my way through the dark room of parenthood. Her twos kicked my trash and now her threes are taking me on a Merry-Go-Round ride of emotions. She picks up on everything I talk with Ben about and is starting to understand and fully express the various emotions of this human state.
Her wit is dizzying.
But rather than spinning out of control, I find us on the same ride: sometimes speeding up and sometimes slowing down. The Universe is in control and the good we send into space returns, twenty-fold, keeping our ride bumpy, but safe.
I'm not always sure what to expect, but I feel confident that she and I will enjoy this ride and learn as we grow together.

I love this, as this is a glimpse into my future with my toddler who's now deep in the twos (that's already kicking me in the butt!).
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up with us!
Oh girl, I know this.
ReplyDelete{Like, so very well.}
Like you, secretly? I love her spunk!
{Beautifully done!}
We just entered the twos ourselves and it's definitely a whirlwind, yet I'm already hearing that the threes are even wilder.
ReplyDeleteMeh... I always did like roller coasters. ;)
Greetings from Memories Captured!
I love the line ... I find us on the same ride.
ReplyDeleteI have girls too ... they never cease to amaze me with their outlook on the world.
Enjoy - great capture!
I remember my first's roaming through that unusual territory, somehow little and yet so full of emotions and so swept up by them. A wonderful challenge, and a terrific joy.
ReplyDeleteOur first borns teach us daily, don't they?
So sweet! Enjoy the ride :)
ReplyDeleteI have a three year old too. You have three year olds pegged correctly.
ReplyDeleteI love this! I think your picture really captures your daughter's spirit. (I'm also glad to hear that my girls aren't the only ones kicking their momma's trash on occassion. ; ) But it is an adventure, isn't it? :)
ReplyDeleteMaking this ride bumpy but safe...beautiful statement.
ReplyDeleteShe's a doll.
Aw thank you! I think Emily gets her spunk from me. Not sure if that's a good thing.... : )
ReplyDeleteI believe 3 is as hard as 2 which was as hard as 1 and so on. I guess that's how a first always is, right? My littlest is two now and, yup. he kicks my butt everyday--literally and figuratively. : )
ReplyDeleteAwww such a beautiful picture and your words. I can so relate! Mine will be 5 and going on 16 too hah! :D
ReplyDeleteJust wait til the age of 4. That's my favorite.
ReplyDeleteOh, this picture does so capture the 'tude that is a three year old. Adorable:)
ReplyDeleteI can so relate!!! Sophie turns 3 in January and I feel like each day is a bit of a Jeckell and Hyde experience... I hear that age 4 is the golden age. :)
ReplyDeleteBTW: Can you send me your address so I can mail you our Christmas card?
Wonderful picture and quote. So true!!!! Love this post.
ReplyDeleteI never seem to be ready for all these changes with my oldest - I'm hoping it's helping make me more prepared for the other two though. Yours is beautiful!
ReplyDelete3, 4 and 5 are my favorite ages. Hold on tight. It goes by so so fast.
ReplyDeleteHeck yeah. It is quite a ride. I agree that 3 is as intense as 2. My daughter started school in September (at 3.9 years old) and I have seen a tremendous leap in maturity. It is much easier between us now. She's still a firecracker...would never want that to change. But she can sit, focus on a task, and doesn't constantly ask for TV. Huge difference.
ReplyDeleteOh I'm pretty sure she's going to make sure the two of you enjoy the ride... just look at that face!! She can't wait for the next adventure! Beautiful!
