A few afternoons ago, Emily was sitting at the table and farted. She yelled, "Excuse me! Hahaha!" Since I haven't taught her that, I looked at her, a bit confused, and she repeated it, "Excuse me! Hahah!"
That's when I realized where she learned it from. Me, trying to teach her daddy to say that.
Wow. My girl has more manners than her daddy.

My husband gets frustrated with the kids when they don't put their dishes in the dishwasher. Then, recently, I was pointing out some of his dishes simply sitting in the sink. "Should I talk to you the way you talk to them?"
ReplyDeleteThe problem is I do it too. I'll be nagging my son about his shoes and notice the Hansel and Gretle pathway I've created to my bedroom, shoes showing me the way so I don't get lost.
Funny!
ReplyDeleteMoments like this are so confusing....you kind of want to tell your kids "good job" but it's kind of funny telling them that after a fart, lest the fart be interpreted as the rewarded item...in which case your husband too will want a reward. Hmm.

Yeah, manners. Hmmmm, my house is full of boys and anything to do with farting gets a roar of laughter around here. When I'm lucky, they remember their manners, known and taught or otherwise. Sigh, I keep trying....
ReplyDeleteThat is hysterical. I'm impressed that your daughter picked it up! Did you completely crack up after the fact? I don't think I could've kept a straight face.
ReplyDeleteI feel like I'm fighting a losing battle with my kids, since my husband thinks it's hilarious when they burp or fart. SIGH.
ReplyDeleteI told my daughter she has a tooting problem. So yesterday, after she... added fragrance to the house and laughed about it, she said, "You know how I have a tooting problem? Well at school...." Then she proceeded to tell me all these stories from school.
ReplyDeleteHeaven help me.
Ha! At least she's excusing herself, even if she's not repentant. That's all you can hope for!
ReplyDeleteI love hearing myself coming out of my children's mouths. Well, when it isn't humbling/horrifying to me anyway.
ReplyDeleteHahaha.. Emily is too cute! :) At least she's learning... It's funny what kids pick up.
ReplyDeleteOh my...we are still trying to learn that over here!! Sorry but farts are funny!
ReplyDeleteSo cute!
